This role emphasizes the cultivation of client relationships, the identification of opportunities, and the management of brokerage placements within the designated area of expertise. The position involves establishing connections with both existing and prospective brokerage carriers to negotiate favorable terms and pricing with a strong sense of urgency. Communication with Companies and Brokers occurs through various channels including telephone, email, in-person meetings, networking events, and traditional mail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster client relationships to create submission opportunities and maintain a consistent flow of business.
- Analyze submission documents to prepare supplementary information such as loss pictures/summaries, loss stratifications, risk summaries, narratives, online research, and requests for additional client information.
- Select and promote the risk, categorized by line of coverage, to markets for negotiating terms and pricing.
- Provide comparative analyses and illustrations to assist in the client presentation process.
- Leverage knowledge of automated systems to generate information for new or renewal policies.
- Prepare quotes for agents and respond to inquiries from agents, policyholders, or prospects.
- Evaluate requests for cancellations, endorsements, and other policy modifications.
- Review policies for renewal consideration and remarketing opportunities.
- Request necessary documentation for processing applications, endorsements, or cancellations.
- Conduct marketing visits to agents and participate in industry events.
- Collaborate with support associates, assistants, and central processing to ensure timely and accurate completion of work. This may include mentoring and guiding team members working on risks.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a Producer's License is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in the insurance sector.
- Prior experience in insurance brokerage activities is preferred.
- Basic computer proficiency is necessary.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
- Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail are crucial.
- A high level of urgency is expected.
- Resourcefulness and assertive behavior are important characteristics.
- Demonstrated negotiation and sales skills are required.
- Technical understanding of insurance coverage forms and their application to various exposures is necessary.
- Familiarity with departmental regulations and policies is beneficial.
- Ability to work independently and complete assignments within given parameters and standard underwriting practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with staff and company underwriters.
- Experience with standard underwriting practices and procedures is preferred.
- Relevant coursework or industry licenses/designations are advantageous.
