Tutoring Specialist

Join the Georgia Mountains YMCA team as a Tutor and make a positive impact on the lives of scholars in our afterschool program. As a Tutor, you will work collaboratively with teachers to support classroom instruction and scholars' learning experiences.

• Implementing collaborative teaching strategies with academic and/or enrichment teachers to a cluster of scholars.
• Supporting the development and delivery of relevant, engaging, and rigorous lessons.
• Ensuring the academic and social development of scholars throughout the course of the program.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of research-based instructional strategies that engage all students
• Content area expertise
• Ability to identify scholar learning needs, deliver appropriately
• Strong working knowledge of instructional shifts necessary for alignment to the Common Core State Standards.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and adjust and adapt instructional strategies swiftly given the short duration of summer programs (4 – 6 weeks).
• Evidence of efficacy and willingness to be a team player.

• Gain hands-on experience developing and implementing lessons with certified teachers.
• Develop collaborative and co-teaching strategies.
• Utilize data-driven and differentiated instructional techniques.
• Deliver lessons with high-quality and rigorous curriculum.
• Work with experienced staff in implementing positive discipline strategies.
• Engage in best practices to support achievement in under-resourced communities.
• Gain experience relationship building with scholars, staff professionals, and families.
