Facility and Location
Our facility is located in Olathe, KS, and we are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team. The LPN will provide professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.
Job Summary
The LPN will demonstrate knowledge of nursing principles for the resident in the relevant clinical setting. They will demonstrate competency and practice within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilize appropriate age and population specific standards related to the physical and psychosocial needs of the resident as per care plan. The LPN will possess the ability to perform testing to evaluate data reflective of the resident's status and to provide the care needed. They will demonstrate ability to recognize problems, recommend solutions and respond effectively to assist in an emergent situation.
Responsibilities
The LPN will ensure the health, comfort and safety of residents. They will contribute to the assessment of residents and administer medications or treatments as ordered. The LPN will provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed. They will document resident interactions as needed and the outcomes related to resident care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary. The LPN will be skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with resident, health care providers, and the public. They will be able to work effectively with professional and supportive personnel as a member of an interdisciplinary care team. The LPN will be able to communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. They will counsel residents, family members and/or resident advocate, under the direction of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider or physician on prevention and treatment plans. The LPN will have knowledge of resident education principles to develop a self-care program. They will perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The LPN will be a graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse. An associate degree in practical nursing is preferred. If position requires IV therapy/management skills, the following is required in North Dakota: graduation from a Board approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing. The LPN must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as LPN at another facility. The LPN must currently hold an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges. The LPN must obtain and subsequently maintain required department specific competencies and certifications. The LPN must complete required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements of the department and facility.
