Patient Care Technician

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in our Cardiac Unit. As a PCT, you will assist the nursing staff in providing patient care, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and supporting the patient care team in achieving exceptional patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in the implementation of nursing care plans by performing direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of the licensed nurse.
- Obtain and record patient information, including vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, intake and output, calorie counts, and other patient information as outlined by policy.
- Assist with mobility, transfers, and use of walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including eating and drinking, bathing, shaving, oral care, grooming, and elimination.
- Collect and process specimens for diagnostic or waived tests.
- Engage in evidence-based best practices that enhance the patient experience, including SAFETY rounding, communication fundamentals/AIDET, Teach-Back, Narrating Care, etc.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date.
- CNA certification in the Commonwealth of Virginia through the Board of Health Professions preferred; or completed Fundamentals of Nursing course through an accredited school of nursing.
- Previous healthcare experience preferred.
- Ability to work night shifts, 7p - 7a, Monday - Friday and rotating weekends.
