Job Summary

As a Sprinkler Designer at Johnson Controls, you will play a critical role in the preparation of detailed Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings to ensure the efficient and effective placement of our products and systems. This position requires a strong understanding of construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and contracts, as well as the ability to interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards to the design and/or layout of sprinkler systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Design and layout sprinkler systems using specialized CAD software packages that are based on the AutoCAD platform.
  • Perform field checks of completed designs to verify accuracy.
  • Work closely with district contracting teams to understand the contract with the customer, the scheduling of the design process, and the delivery needs of the installation crew.
  • Mentor others in the proper execution of sprinkler design using acquired experience, proficiency, and knowledge.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of fire sprinkler design experience.
  • NICET III certification required or must obtain within the first 3-6 months of employment.
  • Working experience of AutoCAD, Hydra CAD, Sprinkler Design Software, or equivalent sprinkler design software.
