Magnet Medical is seeking a skilled travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a temporary nursing position in Wausau, Wisconsin. As an Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN), you will play a vital role in the surgical team, providing direct patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures.
About the JobThis per diem operating room nurse opportunity requires 40 hours of work per week, with 8-hour shifts scheduled. The duration of this assignment is 13 weeks. As a Magnet Medical travel nurse, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a talented healthcare team in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities- Preoperative Preparation: Assess patients' medical histories and current conditions to develop individualized preoperative care plans, verify surgical consent, review medications, and prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgery.
- Intraoperative Nursing Care: Assist in preparing the operating room (OR) environment, ensuring sterile conditions and proper functioning of surgical equipment, collaborate with surgical team members to position patients, monitor vital signs, and assist with anesthesia induction and maintenance.
- Surgical Assistance and Instrumentation: Anticipate surgeons' needs during procedures, passing instruments, sutures, and supplies as required, maintain sterile technique and adhere to aseptic practices throughout the surgical process.
- Patient Advocacy and Safety: Advocate for patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical experience, addressing concerns and ensuring adherence to surgical protocols, monitor patients' responses to surgical interventions, anticipating potential complications and intervening promptly as needed.
- Postoperative Care and Monitoring: Transfer patients to post-anesthesia care units (PACUs) or recovery rooms, monitoring their vital signs and postoperative status, assess surgical incisions, apply dressings, and manage drainage devices while ensuring patient comfort and pain management.
To be considered for this per diem operating room nurse opportunity, candidates must possess a valid RN license, relevant experience in an operating room setting, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
