Job Title: Research and Development Team Leader

A challenging opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled Research and Development Team Leader to join our team at ABB. As a key member of our Measurement & Analytics Division, you will play a vital role in driving innovation and excellence in our R&D activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage complex projects, coordinating the work of multi-location and cross-functional teams.
  • Mentor and coach R&D team members, supporting their professional development and talent pipeline.
  • Ensure projects follow sound methodology and execution practices, adhering to ABB's internal procedures and external standards.
  • Collaborate with other ABB R&D sites and platforms to support NPI development, aligning goals and priorities with ownership of deliveries.
  • Develop and manage relationships with stakeholders, internal functions, Corporate Research Centers, and external relevant parties.
  • Provide proposals for possible partnerships and ensure transparency around team performance, unforeseen results, and identified risks.
  • Understand customer value in projects and act to ensure customer satisfaction and manage expectations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree in Software or Computer Engineering or Information Systems.
  • 8+ years of experience managing embedded development teams, with a good understanding of software development models and cyber security.
  • Experience taking embedded products from concept through to production, planning and coordinating projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience managing external & offshore contractors, working with multiple releases & projects for multiple products.
  • Good knowledge of Business Gate Model and Quality Processes, with oil and gas industry experience a plus.
  • Sound knowledge of Waterfall, Agile methodologies, and certifications in Scrum preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO development processes/procedures and development activities/processes required by the software/hardware discipline.
