The Operating Room Nurse plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care within the surgical environment. This position requires advanced critical thinking abilities, scientific knowledge, and leadership skills to effectively plan and manage patient care in the operating room.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary surgical team, including Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, and Operating Room Technicians, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Adhere to the State Nurse Practice Act, AORN guidelines, and hospital policies while providing care.
- Manage essential tasks such as:
- Ensuring the availability of surgical supplies and equipment.
- Maintaining effective communication with patients' families.
- Updating physician preference cards.
- Scrubbing in and assisting during surgical procedures.
- Supervising the delivery of patient care by other personnel.
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS.
This position requires availability for OR Circulator duties, with a schedule of Monday through Friday, including on-call responsibilities.
