Respite Foster Care Parent Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Respite Foster Care Parent to provide temporary care and support to foster youth in our residential program. As a Respite Foster Care Parent, you will play a vital role in helping children and families overcome challenges and achieve permanency.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 24/7 support and supervision to up to 6 foster youth in a residential setting.
  • Ensure the physical, emotional, educational, social, spiritual, and cultural needs of each resident are met.
  • Implement and comply with Foster Care licensing regulations and Crossnore Communities for Children's Policies and Procedures.
  • Assess foster youth's needs and develop appropriate parenting techniques and emotional climate.
  • Communicate effectively with placement workers, case managers, therapists, teachers, and other supportive partners.
  • Administer medications as instructed and attend scheduled medical appointments.
  • Monitor school attendance, assist with homework, and advocate for youth's needs within the school system.
  • Report any issues, concerns, or situations that may adversely affect the welfare and safety of youth, staff, or program.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor's degree in human services or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years experience in working with children and families, preferably in a mental health or child welfare setting.
  • Prior residential/house parent experience or previous foster parent experience and knowledge of age-appropriate living skills strongly preferred.
