Occupational Therapist Job Description

AB Staffing Solutions is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team in Lacey, Washington. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in helping students with physical, emotional, and cognitive disabilities to develop the skills they need to succeed in school and in life.

Job Summary:

The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for evaluating patients, developing individualized plans of care, and providing competent care to patients. You will work closely with the rehab team, physicians, and other disciplines to ensure continuity of care and provide a safe and clean working environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate patients by observing their movements, performing standardized tests, and listening to their concerns to establish an individualized plan of care.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care to help patients achieve their goals.
  • Provide competent care to patients, using exercises, stretching, equipment, modalities, and hands-on therapy to manage patients' pain, increase mobility, and prevent further pain and injury.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with patients and motivate them to reach their goals.
  • Provide continuity of care by communicating pertinent patient information with the rehab team, physicians, and other disciplines as needed.
  • Document all patient care in accordance with department policies.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; and adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
Requirements:
  • Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate (ESA) School Occupational Therapist certificate
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from an accredited college or university
  • Great communication skills with parents, students, and team members
  • 1+ years of relevant experience; experience working with, or knowledge, of Limited English Proficient students preferred
  • Initial certification by the National Board for Occupational Therapy
  • Bilingual skills preferred

Contract Details:
  • Elementary & Middle School, site-based
  • Contract through the 2024/2025 school year – 37.5 to 40 hours per week
  • Contract follows the academic district calendar
