About the Role:
Fairview Health Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Operating Room team at our University of Minnesota Medical Center East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN.
Responsibilities:
- Establish a safe environment for surgical patients, assessing, diagnosing, implementing, and evaluating treatments and procedures that contribute to physiological stability.
- Implement protective measures prior to operative or invasive procedures, including measures to prevent skin or tissue injury due to thermal, mechanical, electrical, and chemical sources.
- Verify patient identity and operative procedure, surgical site, and laterality before procedures.
- Apply safety devices, perform required counts, manage specimen handling and disposition.
- Demonstrate knowledge of psychologic, sociologic, and spiritual responses of patients and their families to operative or other invasive procedures.
- Apply principles of aseptic technique while establishing and maintaining sterile fields.
- Perform skin preparations, monitor for wound contamination, and classify surgical wounds.
- Ensure perioperative environmental sanitation.
Requirements:
- Minnesota RN licensure required.
- BLS certification.
- Minimum of 1 year OR RN experience or 2 years' experience as a Surgical Technologist.
