Casting Operator

Waukesha Foundry is seeking a skilled Casting Operator to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Pouring:
  • Ensure accurate weight and clamp placement for each mold
  • Inspect sprue and risers for correctness and remove any debris
  • Read master sheets for requirements and special instructions
  • Apply proper pouring technique, including even stream, full pour box, and correct riser height
  • Implement effective gas removal technique during pouring
  • Place hot topping and heat tags after pouring
  • Remove clamps and weights when cool
• Ladle Repair:
  • Preheat ladles safely and knock out, replace, or repair linings (including safety liners)
  • Manufacture ceramic pots for hand shanks
• General:
  • Operate hoist and forklift safely
  • Read and understand master sheets
  • Accurately read measuring devices
  • Work safely in a team environment
  • Maintain proper housekeeping for the work area
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements:

• Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Skills: Basic arithmetic functions, reading and understanding shop paperwork
• Abilities: Use direct reading and fixed gauges, work with percentages and decimals, achieve fork lift certification
• Physical Requirements: Lift up to 75 lbs, stand for long periods, work in a hot environment
• Working Conditions: Normal foundry atmosphere
