Job DescriptionWaukesha Foundry is seeking a skilled Casting Operator to join our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pouring:
- Ensure accurate weight and clamp placement for each mold
- Inspect sprue and risers for correctness and remove any debris
- Read master sheets for requirements and special instructions
- Apply proper pouring technique, including even stream, full pour box, and correct riser height
- Implement effective gas removal technique during pouring
- Place hot topping and heat tags after pouring
- Remove clamps and weights when cool
- Ladle Repair:
- Preheat ladles safely and knock out, replace, or repair linings (including safety liners)
- Manufacture ceramic pots for hand shanks
- General:
- Operate hoist and forklift safely
- Read and understand master sheets
- Accurately read measuring devices
- Work safely in a team environment
- Maintain proper housekeeping for the work area
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Skills: Basic arithmetic functions, reading and understanding shop paperwork
- Abilities: Use direct reading and fixed gauges, work with percentages and decimals, achieve fork lift certification
- Physical Requirements: Lift up to 75 lbs, stand for long periods, work in a hot environment
- Working Conditions: Normal foundry atmosphere
