Job Overview
Fort Hays State University is seeking a dedicated Residential Life Cleaning Operations Supervisor for a full-time role, working Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional weekend hours required.
Position Summary
This role is responsible for overseeing and supporting the custodial personnel and student workers in the daily functions of the Residential Life Custodial department. The primary duty is to manage the workflow and requirements of the custodial team assigned to specific areas. This position involves regular interaction with students, staff, faculty, and campus visitors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED equivalency. A minimum of three years of custodial experience, including lead worker or supervisory experience and/or training.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong organizational skills to manage daily, weekly, and monthly tasks effectively
- Exceptional written communication abilities
- Familiarity with materials, equipment, and practices utilized in custodial operations

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and assist in the cleaning of assigned facilities to promote health and safety.
- Oversee, organize, and schedule the work activities of custodial staff and student workers engaged in cleaning and minor maintenance tasks.
- Manage time and leave for the custodial team.
- Conduct on-site inspections of facilities, rooms, storage areas, fixtures, hallways, and custodial equipment to assess work outcomes.
- Implement standard safety practices and ensure the proper use and maintenance of all equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Collaborate with University staff to clarify, monitor, and fulfill work requests while addressing any complaints or issues related to custodial staff.
