Key Responsibilities
Ensures the utmost safety and security of university personnel, patients, students, visitors, and institutional assets. Engages in security operations either at designated posts or while conducting patrols across the campus and surrounding areas. Responds to service requests and monitors for unauthorized individuals, security breaches, and potential fire or safety risks. Capable of being assigned to various posts or patrol duties in diverse environments and on different shifts. Assists individuals by providing directions or information as needed.
Engages with colleagues, visitors, and other personnel in alignment with the core values of the institution. Conducts security patrols at designated posts or while on the move, addressing general security violations and fire or safety hazards. Verifies the legitimacy of individuals on the premises by checking identification and escorting unauthorized individuals off campus when necessary. Responds swiftly to service requests, including urgent or serious incidents, problems, or emergencies. Alerts supervisors of any critical conditions. May be required to de-escalate emergency situations using conflict resolution techniques. Investigates and documents incidents, accidents, or suspicious activities. Maintains a daily patrol log during shifts and submits it to the supervisor upon completion. Provides follow-up information to security investigators as directed. Offers assistance to employees, students, patients, and visitors during incidents, including providing security escorts upon request. Assists with parking management issues; patrols parking areas and monitors parking equipment. Collaborates with safety teams, including aiding the Trauma Team during helicopter landings and responding to fire-related emergencies. Enforces all no-smoking policies on campus. Performs additional related security, safety, and protective duties as assigned, including loss prevention tasks (e.g., inspecting deliveries) and assisting in the training of new security personnel as directed.Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory. Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or military service is preferred. Experience in campus or hospital security, law enforcement, or related criminal justice agencies is strongly preferred. For Pennsylvania: Valid ACT 235 Certification is required within 90 days of employment. A valid driver's license is necessary for certain positions. Must comprehend all responsibilities and technologies associated with the 24-hour Security Response Center. Proficiency in Microsoft desktop applications (e.g., Word, Email) is required. Ability to work all shifts and rotate between them as necessary. This is a highly visible uniformed position. Officers must maintain an excellent appearance at all times and be equipped with all necessary security tools.Employment Conditions
Covid vaccination is a requirement for employment for individuals working at clinical entities or the university. If not currently vaccinated, candidates must receive the vaccination prior to the hire date unless an approved medical or religious exemption is obtained.
