Job OverviewPosition Summary

The Trauma Care Nursing Coordinator is accountable for orchestrating patient care within the Trauma Center. This role emphasizes the integration of clinical guidelines and outcome management, ensuring that care delivery is efficient, effective, and cost-conscious. The Coordinator will lead and collaborate with physicians and healthcare staff to enhance patient care services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain programs for the Trauma Center.
  • Assess and ensure adherence to all Trauma Center accreditations and the requirements set forth by the American College of Surgeons Level III certification.
  • Oversee the coordination of care for trauma patients.
  • Exhibit progressive leadership qualities.
  • Engage in effective communication with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Serve as a resource for nursing staff and direct care providers, facilitating patient education and outreach initiatives.
  • Plan and conduct ongoing educational sessions related to trauma patient care.
  • Act as a liaison among various healthcare systems and community resources to collaborate on trauma care initiatives.
  • Assist in gathering performance improvement data and developing projects for trauma service lines.
  • Represent the Trauma Center on designated hospital committees.
  • Commit to continuous learning and self-improvement.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive clinical and management experience in nursing is required.
  • Proficiency in public speaking and excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Emergency Department (ED), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), or Step Down Unit (SDU) is required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent organizational abilities and work ethic are necessary.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with patients and customers.
  • Possess advanced knowledge in data management and outcomes management, with a focus on trauma nursing.
  • Expertise in coordinating patient services and care for trauma patients is required.
  • Strong familiarity with technology and software applications is essential.
  • Experience with trauma databases and registries is required.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving, communication, teaching, and physical assessment skills.
  • Ability to develop processes that enhance compliance with defined patient care outcomes, along with strong leadership and educational experience in nursing and pre-hospital settings.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio is required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is required.

Additional Certifications

  • Preferred certifications include BTLS, PBTLS, and PEPP ENPC provider certification.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification is required.
