Position Summary:

Deliver an exceptional customer experience through outstanding service. Maintain a safe and hygienic environment that encourages repeat visits from customers. Support the department manager in achieving sales and profit objectives while adhering to all quality assurance standards. Essential Job Functions:

  1. Create a welcoming atmosphere for customers by addressing inquiries about products offered in the department and throughout the store.
  2. Prepare baked goods according to customer specifications using appropriate bakery equipment.
  3. Provide product samples to assist customers in discovering new items or products they are interested in.
  4. Inform customers about bakery promotions and specials.
  5. Ensure customers receive fresh products they have ordered in the correct portion sizes to minimize waste.
  6. Recommend bakery items to customers to help them find what they need.
  7. Utilize all bakery equipment, including refrigerators, freezers, and ovens, in accordance with company guidelines.
  8. Prepare food items following temperature logs and cooking instructions.
  9. Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
  10. Accurately prepare, package, label, and manage inventory of ingredients.
  11. Check product quality to ensure freshness, reviewing expiration dates and taking necessary actions.
  12. Properly operate kitchen equipment, including stoves and computerized scales.
  13. Label, stock, and manage inventory of department merchandise.
  14. Report any discrepancies in product ordering or shipping to the department manager.
  15. Exhibit a positive attitude at all times.
  16. Familiarize yourself with the store layout to assist customers in locating products.
  17. Stay informed about current, upcoming, seasonal, and special promotions.
  18. Maintain awareness of inventory and stocking conditions, noting any discrepancies.
  19. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  20. Ensure proper temperatures are maintained in cases and coolers, keeping accurate temperature logs.
  21. Reinforce safety protocols by following safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions to management.
  22. Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate personnel of any repair needs.
  23. Report any safety risks, issues, or illegal activities.
  24. Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Ability to manage stressful situations effectively.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Basic math knowledge.
  • Current food handler's permit upon employment.

Desired Previous Job Experience:

  • Experience in bakery or cake decorating.
  • Retail experience.
  • Proficiency in a second language (speaking, reading, and/or writing).
