Position Summary:

Essential Job Functions:
- Create a welcoming atmosphere for customers by addressing inquiries about products offered in the department and throughout the store.
- Prepare baked goods according to customer specifications using appropriate bakery equipment.
- Provide product samples to assist customers in discovering new items or products they are interested in.
- Inform customers about bakery promotions and specials.
- Ensure customers receive fresh products they have ordered in the correct portion sizes to minimize waste.
- Recommend bakery items to customers to help them find what they need.
- Utilize all bakery equipment, including refrigerators, freezers, and ovens, in accordance with company guidelines.
- Prepare food items following temperature logs and cooking instructions.
- Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Accurately prepare, package, label, and manage inventory of ingredients.
- Check product quality to ensure freshness, reviewing expiration dates and taking necessary actions.
- Properly operate kitchen equipment, including stoves and computerized scales.
- Label, stock, and manage inventory of department merchandise.
- Report any discrepancies in product ordering or shipping to the department manager.
- Exhibit a positive attitude at all times.
- Familiarize yourself with the store layout to assist customers in locating products.
- Stay informed about current, upcoming, seasonal, and special promotions.
- Maintain awareness of inventory and stocking conditions, noting any discrepancies.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Ensure proper temperatures are maintained in cases and coolers, keeping accurate temperature logs.
- Reinforce safety protocols by following safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions to management.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate personnel of any repair needs.
- Report any safety risks, issues, or illegal activities.

Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Ability to manage stressful situations effectively.
- Strong communication skills.
- Basic math knowledge.
- Current food handler's permit upon employment.
Desired Previous Job Experience:
- Experience in bakery or cake decorating.
- Retail experience.
- Proficiency in a second language (speaking, reading, and/or writing).
