Pharmacy Technician Job Description

HCA Solutions is seeking a qualified Pharmacy Technician to join our team at FCC Coleman in Coleman, FL.

This is a full-time, contracted position with a maximum of 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ordering, stocking, storing, and dispensing of prescription and non-prescription medications while adhering to budgetary guidelines and Formulary constraints.
  • Maintaining pharmacy areas in a clean and orderly fashion, consistent with departmental safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Stocking up-to-date medications in the main pharmacy, satellite camp, crash carts, emergency bags, and Automated Dispensing Systems.
  • Preparing unit dose or pre-packaged medications.
  • Completing and maintaining competency in the Pharmacy Competency Module, while staying knowledgeable about the Formulary and any changes.
  • Maintaining the narcotics count and needle and syringe inventories.
  • Restocking adequate supplies for the Pyxis machine and performing audits.
  • Participating in Improving Organizational Performance Data and Quality Assurance Activities as directed by the BOP Pharmacist or HSA.
  • Performing minor clerical duties, such as electronic medical record use, computer documentation, scheduling, scanning documents, filing, typing, callouts, institutional memorandums, answering phones, and maintaining stock records.
  • Assisting Nurses/Paramedics with pill distribution and administration, followed by documentation in the inmates' electronic health record.
Requirements:
  • Pharmacy Technician services must have completed a formal Pharmacy Training Program with a Pharmacy Technician license or certification in one of the 50 states, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
  • At least 6 months of Pharmacy Technician experience.
  • Current CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Current vaccines, including COVID-19.
  • Current TB.
