Lead Butcher

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Lead Butcher to join our team at a USDA Beef Processing Facility in Grand Bay, AL. The ideal candidate will have experience in rail breaking and be proficient in cutting and preparing various cuts of meat.

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive and process products for butchering, removing bones, sinews, and fatty tissues.
• Prepare meats of different cuts and textures using industrial-grade cutters and slicers, knives, and other manual devices.
• Review daily work orders and develop workflow based on select criteria such as cut, weight, and fat content.
• Prepare specialty items, such as links or ground meats, per customer specifications.
• Inspect and clean all cuts of meat according to federal regulations and local health department standards prior to packaging.
• Coordinate with the packaging supervisor to ensure all designated orders have been completed.

Requirements:

• Experience as a Butcher in a slaughterhouse or meat packaging environment.
• Ability to work in a cold environment (42*) and dress warmly.
• Steel-toe boots are required.
