The ideal candidate will possess the necessary expertise and training to accurately process and prepare patient reports on specimens submitted to the Pathology department.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining all laboratory equipment and instruments within the Pathology section.
  • Performing instrument calibrations and preparing essential reagents and stains for tissue and specimen processing.
  • Executing high complexity testing procedures with precision and reporting results in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Adhering to established protocols for specimen handling, testing analyses, and maintaining comprehensive records of patient test results.
  • Identifying and reporting any potential or actual patient safety concerns, while actively participating in initiatives aimed at enhancing laboratory processes and patient safety.
  • Engaging in preparations for inspections by regulatory bodies.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a NAACLS accredited Histologic Technician program or possession of an AS or BS degree in an accredited applied science program, including clinical rotations.
  • Current ASCP certification as a Histologist (HT/HLT) and a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated technical competence in performing complex testing procedures.
  • Commitment to following specific written procedures for all aspects of specimen processing and reporting.
