Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Maintenance Trainee to join our Water Resources Department. As a Maintenance Trainee, you will have the opportunity to learn and perform varied unskilled and semi-skilled manual maintenance work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Learn and perform routine maintenance tasks such as mowing, sweeping, edging, trimming, painting, and cleaning
  • Assist in reading consumer water meters and record readings using a handheld device
  • Perform data entry using mobile devices or computers
  • Conduct routine maintenance activities for meters, meter boxes, and meter connections
  • Deliver advisory notices door-to-door
  • Answer or refer questions and complaints from water users
  • Assist personnel or crews engaged in water system repairs and maintenance
  • Learn and assist personnel in the maintenance of water facilities
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Class C Operator's license issued by the California State Department of Motor Vehicles with a good driving record
  • Ability to work with a full range of body movements involving reaching, bending, stooping, and grasping
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
  • Normal vision and hearing ability
