Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the Department of Mental Health, Patrick B. Harris Psychiatric Hospital. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care to adult patients with mental illnesses.

Responsibilities
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered to assigned patients.
  • Provide direct care to adult psychiatric patients, including those who are deaf and have co-occurring disorders.
  • Teach patients about their medications and treatment plans.
  • Record patient data in real-time and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Precept newly hired Licensed Practical Nurses and provide guidance to non-licensed nursing personnel.
  • Maintain clinical competency by attending mandatory training classes and obtaining non-mandatory training.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing.
  • One year of nursing experience or successful completion of an 80-hour Pharmacology course.
  • Current licensure by the South Carolina State Board of Nursing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language).
Work Environment

The selected candidate must be able to work with mentally ill adults and perform emergency care to victims with cardiac and/or respiratory arrest. The ability to stand, walk, reach, pull, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds is required.
