About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer - Distribution Planning to join our team at Avangrid. As a key member of our Distribution Planning department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of electricity to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement distribution planning strategies to meet business objectives and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize distribution system improvements and optimize system performance.
  • Conduct comprehensive area studies, including voltage, thermal, N-1, and power factor assessments, to inform distribution planning decisions.
  • Apply established distribution criteria and sound utility engineering practices to identify and address distribution system deficiencies.
  • Develop and recommend distribution automation solutions to improve system efficiency and reliability.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and regulatory requirements, and apply this knowledge to inform distribution planning decisions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in distribution planning or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of distribution planning principles, power system studies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and develop recommendations to inform business decisions.
