As a Nurse Practitioner or School Health Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing direct nursing services to students and staff members, promoting health and wellness in the school community.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Direct Nursing Services: Administer first aid, illness, and emergency care to students and staff in response to the nursing assessment and in accordance with professional standards, school policy and procedures, and state and local mandates.
- Administer Medication: Administer medication with appropriate documentation and maintain accurate medical records to ensure compliance with state mandates.
- Communicate Effectively: Maintain communication with the certified school nurse, teachers, other school personnel, and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action which will meet the health and safety needs of students.
- Organize and Maintain Records: Maintain a daily electronic log of student/staff visits and documentation on individual health records, and utilize existing technology effectively in the performance of duties.
- Baccalaureate Degree: A baccalaureate degree in nursing or a related field is required.
- Current Registered Nurse Licensure: Current registered nurse licensure in the state of Illinois is required.
- Experience and Education: Experience in nursing and completion of a school health orientation program are preferred.
- Computer Literacy: Computer literacy and competency in the use of existing technology are required.
