We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced cardiothoracic surgeon to join our esteemed faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Administration: Provide strategic guidance and expertise on future trends in cardiac surgery, implementing new programs to enhance the mission of the School and affiliated hospitals.
- Education and Training: Collaborate with faculty to develop educational objectives, curriculum content, and delivery for undergraduate medical education in cardiothoracic surgery, ensuring excellence in teaching and mentorship.
- Research and Innovation: Recommend areas and programs of research in cardiothoracic surgery, serving as a role model and mentor for students, residents, and faculty, and contributing to the advancement of medical knowledge.
- Service and Patient Care: Provide high-quality cardiothoracic surgery services, participate in Departmental, Medical School, and Hospital committees, and serve as a role model for students and residents, upholding the highest standards of patient care and professionalism.
- Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Successful completion of a cardiothoracic residency and fellowship
- MD license and ability to be licensed in the State of Illinois
- Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations
- Board certification and prior teaching and research experience
