Job Summary:

The City of Daphne, AL is seeking a skilled Public Safety Dispatcher to join our team. As a Public Safety Dispatcher, you will be responsible for responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, dispatching police units, and maintaining contact with emergency service agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls from the public
  • Dispatch police units and maintain contact with emergency service agencies
  • Enter call information into the computer using a Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) System
  • Ensure accuracy of information entered and maintain contact with the reporting party
  • Relay and record accurate, updated information to necessary parties
  • Notify supervisor of all emergency and serious complaints and calls

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Four (4) months previous experience and/or training in radio communications, public safety dispatching, or personal computer operations
  • Valid State of Alabama driver's license
  • Valid NCIC Terminal Operator certification
  • Alabama Public Safety Communications Officer (APCO) certification

Work Environment:

The work is performed in an office environment. Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
