This position is designed to facilitate student learning, retention, and achievement through various academic support services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tutoring and Academic Support: Provide individual and small-group tutoring sessions to students seeking assistance in various subjects, including but not limited to mathematics, sciences, humanities, and writing.
  • Study Skills Development: Assist students in developing effective study habits, time management skills, and academic strategies tailored to their needs.
  • Workshop Facilitation: Plan, organize, and conduct workshops and seminars on topics related to study skills, academic success strategies, and exam preparation.
  • Resource Acquisition: Research and acquire educational materials, textbooks, and other resources beneficial to student learning and success.
  • Peer Mentoring: Serve as a mentor and role model to students, offering guidance and support in navigating academic challenges and university resources.
  • Data Entry and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of student interactions, sessions conducted, and academic progress reports as required by the Student Success Center.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Enrollment in a graduate program at Wheeling University, preferably in a field related to education, counseling, or a relevant discipline.
  • Strong academic record with proficiency in the subject areas commonly required for undergraduate tutoring.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain complex concepts effectively.
