Key Responsibilities:
  • Serves as the primary resource for outpatient physicians, clinicians, patients, and staff, providing accurate and timely information regarding patient demographics, insurance, and appointment details.
  • Directs patients, family members, and visitors to the appropriate location within the hospital, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
  • Reviews and completes patient registration requirements for new patients, adhering to hospital protocols and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Communicates effectively with outpatient clinical staff to provide exceptional customer service and ensure patients receive accurate and concise information regarding services rendered.
  • Protects patient rights and maintains confidentiality by adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Answers incoming calls in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner, directing callers as necessary and relaying accurate messages in a timely fashion.
  • Forwards urgent calls to the appropriate physician or clinician immediately and pages clinical staff when necessary to meet patient needs.
  • Checks patients in upon arrival and notifies clinicians/physicians of their arrival when appropriate.
  • Reviews the patient registration packet with new patients, providing accurate and concise information regarding services and obtaining patient/parent signatures on necessary forms.
  • Enters/registers patients into the hospital computer system accurately, ensuring the integrity of the database.
  • Remains current on information regarding provider status, location, specialty, credentials, and availability of clinicians and physicians rendering outpatient services.
  • Under the direction of the Senior Area Leader, produces, interprets, and takes appropriate action on various computer-generated reports.
  • Performs other duties in the Outpatient Department as assigned by the Outpatient Operations Manager.
Qualifications:
  • High School graduate
  • Epic experience preferred
  • Proficient grasp of English language, grammar, and punctuation skills, telephone skills, typing, computer, and data entry skills, professional interpersonal skills, and ability to interact effectively with patients, clinicians, and external customers
