Job Title: Route Driver

We are seeking a self-motivated and customer service-oriented individual to join our team as a Route Driver. As a representative of Spee Dee Delivery, you will be responsible for making deliveries and picking up freight in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver and pick up freight from customers and shippers
  • Inspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicle
  • Load the truck in an organized manner to effectively use space and prevent damage to packages
  • Collect payments for certain packages delivered
  • Verify the content of pickups on shipping papers
  • Notify management of any problems or discrepancies
  • Maintain a professional personal appearance and cleanliness of the vehicle
  • Assist other drivers and operations personnel with duties as needed
Requirements:
  • At least 21 years of age and hold a valid Driver's License
  • A good driving record that meets company standards
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission or have the willingness to learn
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
  • Ability to bend, lift, twist, climb stairs, while moving freight on and off the company vehicle
  • Ability to lift and move freight weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to work with all types of freight, including hazardous material, perishable food, and live animals
  • Possess good customer service skills and be able to work independently
