Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our cross-functional team in Chantilly, VA. As a member of this team, you will collaborate with developers, testers, cloud engineers, and security engineers to develop and sustain a large-scale, user-facing application and associated services in an AWS environment. You will play a key role in maintaining and extending the existing codebase, while presenting innovative solutions to enhance application resilience, reduce costs, and accelerate delivery to mission customers.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain applications and services in Java, and at least one of Python, JavaScript, or Ruby.
  • Design and develop cloud-native applications and services to run efficiently in AWS cloud environments.
  • Utilize containerization technologies such as Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, and Helm for deployment and management.
  • Work with relational databases like PostgreSQL (preferred) or MySQL, document databases such as Elasticsearch or Solr, or big data technologies like Hadoop, Hive, or Spark.
  • Extend and optimize applications running in Linux-based environments.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams using Git-based workflows in an agile environment.
  • Present innovative solutions to improve application resilience, performance, and reduce operational costs.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, with 3+ years of experience for senior level, 8+ years for expert level, or 13+ years for subject matter expert level.
  • Proven experience developing applications and services in Java, and at least one of Python, JavaScript, or Ruby.
  • Hands-on experience developing and deploying applications in cloud-native environments, preferably AWS.
  • Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL), document databases (e.g., Elasticsearch, Solr), or big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Hive, Spark).
  • Proficiency in working with Git and Agile methodologies for software development.
  • Active security clearance with full scope polygraph required.
