ABOUT THE POSITION
As a Facilities Maintenance Engineer, you will leverage your advanced skills to execute intricate preventive maintenance and corrective repairs across various facilities, industrial systems, vehicles, equipment, and grounds. Operating with minimal supervision, you will monitor the performance and operations of building systems, utilizing a diverse range of trade skills including
HVAC/R, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, roofing, and heating and cooling.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Adhere to all relevant codes, regulations, and company directives concerning building operations and safety protocols.
2. Conduct inspections of building systems such as fire alarms,
HVAC/R, and plumbing to verify that equipment operates within its design parameters and meets the environmental conditions set by clients.
3. Supervise and evaluate the work performed by external contractors, which may include landscaping, snow removal, remodeling,
HVAC/R, plumbing, and cleaning services.
4. Execute assigned repairs and preventive maintenance tasks as needed.
5. Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed.
6. Review and assess work orders, estimating the time and materials required for repairs.
7. Order necessary materials and supplies to complete all assigned tasks.
8. Implement an energy management program to optimize system operations and minimize operating costs.
9. Maintain the building's lighting system, including repairs or replacements of elements and ballasts.
10. Perform welding, carpentry, furniture assembly, and locksmith duties as required.
11. Respond promptly to emergency situations, calling for additional assistance when necessary.
12. Undertake other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY ROLE
This position does not have formal supervisory responsibilities but may provide informal assistance, technical guidance, and training to colleagues, as well as coordinate work and assign tasks.
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship. A high school diploma or GED is required, along with a minimum of five years of relevant experience or trade school training. Engineering experience focusing on
HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing is essential. Possession of a refrigeration license and/or relevant experience is advantageous. A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required, with periodic checks.
CERTIFICATIONS
Universal CFC or EPA 608 certification is preferred. Additional certifications in areas such as electrical, mechanical,
HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry, or engine repair are beneficial. Candidates should possess the necessary skills to operate a full-size van or truck, and any certifications or licenses required by local or state regulations.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Candidates must meet the physical demands of the role, including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry loads of 50 lbs. or more. An understanding of existing procedures and standards is necessary to address moderately complex problems. Strong analytical skills and technical experience are essential for applying appropriate judgment and precedents. Excellent organizational skills and a proactive mindset are required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
