We are seeking a dedicated Practical Nurse at Erlanger Behavioral Health's latest expansion, Erlanger North. Erlanger Behavioral Health Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee, provides psychiatric care for a diverse range of age groups, including adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.


PURPOSE STATEMENT:


Deliver nursing care and services in accordance with the standards and scope of nursing practice, as defined by state regulations, policies, procedures, and protocols, as well as facility and corporate guidelines.

Exhibit a positive, empathetic, and professional demeanor towards patients at all times. Acknowledge that patient safety is of utmost importance.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assess patient health and provide basic care utilizing the nursing process within the LPN/LVN scope of practice to achieve care plan objectives and goals.
  • Model expectations related to customer service and demonstrate urgency regarding the significance of patient safety.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure that patients' physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental, and cultural needs are addressed, and when they are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve any complaints.
  • Attend to the basic comfort of patients, implementing nursing interventions tailored to their individual needs as outlined in the care plan.
  • Apply appropriate interventions to advance the patient towards wellness and support the maintenance of their health.
  • Discuss the care provided with patients and actively listen to their concerns. Report any changes in status and concerns to registered nurses and physicians.
  • Communicate therapeutically and professionally with patients, visitors, coworkers, and others involved in the patient's treatment effectively.
  • Ensure the safe administration of medications in accordance with policies, procedures, physician orders, and current practices.
  • Uphold standards of professional nursing practice in alignment with facility policies, external governing and credentialing bodies, performance improvement standards, and psychiatric nursing standards.
  • Responsible for thorough and accurate documentation of patient symptoms, responses, and progress.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform additional functions and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
  • One or more years of nursing experience in the clinical area of service provided by the facility is preferred.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Current LPN/LVN license as mandated by state regulations.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and provided by the facility).
  • First aid certification may be required based on state or facility guidelines.
