Mechanical Assembly Technician

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, repair, replacement, and disassembly of machinery utilized in a manufacturing environment. This role includes the following essential duties and responsibilities, with additional tasks assigned as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Replace faulty components of machinery or adjust the clearances and alignment of moving parts.
  • Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
  • Assemble and install equipment utilizing both hand tools and power tools.
  • Position steel beams to support machine and equipment bedplates, guided by blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts using hand tools and measuring instruments to achieve specified clearances between moving and stationary components.
  • Transport machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  • Attach moving parts and subassemblies to the primary assembly unit using hand tools and power tools.
  • Assemble machines, securing them to foundations or other structures using hand tools and power tools.
  • Lay out mounting holes using measuring instruments and drill holes with a power drill.
  • Secure parts such as side and deck plates, jaw plates, and journals to the primary assembly unit.
  • Level bedplates and establish centerlines using straightedges, levels, and transit tools.
  • Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
  • Disassemble machinery and equipment for transport to installation sites.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required for this Position:

Education: No minimum educational requirements.

Experience: 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience.
