Research Scientist

Job Summary

This position plays a crucial role in supporting the Senior Chemist in driving innovation and excellence in product development at AGC Chemicals Americas, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the formulation and testing of various products, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a well-organized laboratory environment, ensuring all equipment is calibrated and supplies are properly inventoried.
• Set up, operate, and maintain laboratory equipment for testing various formulations, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
• Test formulations and communicate results to senior chemists, providing valuable insights for product improvement.
• Maintain accurate chemical inventory and adhere to proper chemical waste procedures, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
• Perform regular sample testing for long-term experiments, providing critical data for product development.
• Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring timely sample shipment and effective communication with internal customer service and logistics functions.
• Investigate customer complaints related to material issues and collaborate with the team to find solutions.
• Support scale-up/manufacturing via raw material shipment and quality control, ensuring seamless product delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, polymer science, chemicals, or materials engineering, or related field; associate's degree; or high school diploma/GED.
• Proficient computer skills, spreadsheet, and word processing skills, intermediate math skills.
• Good communication skills, detail-oriented, and team player mentality.
• Polymer processing (extrusion) experience preferred.
