Job Summary:

Simpson Housing Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Housing Stability Advocate to join our team. As a key member of our family housing team, you will work closely with families to improve their overall well-being, strengthen family relationships, and achieve long-term stability.

About the Role:

  • You will provide comprehensive case management services to 15-20 participant families residing in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and surrounding areas.
  • Your primary focus will be on supporting families in overcoming barriers to housing, including mental health issues, criminal histories, and domestic violence.
  • You will partner with participants to develop self-defined goals focused on achieving greater independence and stability.
  • As part of our Harm Reduction/Housing First Model, you will prioritize building trust and rapport with participants to empower them in making informed decisions about their lives.
  • Collaborating with Early Childhood and Children and Youth Specialists, you will work together to ensure a holistic approach to meeting program goals.
  • Your exceptional communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to effectively communicate with staff, volunteers, and participants from diverse backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct intakes and assist with housing placement for new participants.
  • Orient participants to Simpson policies and procedures.
  • Meet weekly with families at their residence to discuss progress, set goals, and address challenges.
  • Provide transportation assistance and accompany participants to appointments related to their goals.
  • Support skill development to enhance autonomy and decision-making abilities.
  • Partner with property managers to facilitate communication regarding finding and securing housing.
  • Complete tenancy education to understand lease agreements and tenant rights.
  • Assist participants in accessing government benefits, education, training, and employment opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or relevant experience required.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
  • Strong computer skills, with experience in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to learn and use client database software.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year of direct social services experience.
  • Experience working with low-income families, people experiencing homelessness, and diverse populations.

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.
  • Knowledge of Harm Reduction/Housing First Model and commitment to its principles.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional boundaries.
