Join the Metro YMCA of the Oranges as a Water Safety Instructor and play a critical role in teaching children and adults essential water safety skills. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about swimming, enjoy working with people, and want to make a difference in their community.

About the Role:

This instructor will teach swim lessons to students of all ages and skill levels, focusing on providing a safe and supportive learning environment. The instructor will also be responsible for creating engaging lesson plans, managing classroom behavior, and ensuring that students meet the required skill level standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Taught swim lessons to groups of up to 12 students, using positive reinforcement techniques to promote student engagement and motivation
  • Created and implemented lesson plans that catered to the diverse needs of students, including those with special needs
  • Maintained accurate records of student progress, attendance, and other relevant information
  • Ensured a safe and healthy environment for students, adhering to pool safety protocols and emergency procedures
  • Developed strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, promoting a positive and inclusive atmosphere
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A minimum age of 16 years
  • Proven knowledge of various swim strokes and teaching levels
  • Previous experience teaching swim lessons or working with children
  • Strong vocal ability to project instruction clearly during lessons
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and enter/exit the pool without assistance
Preferred Qualifications:

YSL or American Red Cross certification within the first year of teaching swim lessons

Salary Information:

The estimated salary range for this position is $15-$20 per hour, based on the location and job requirements.
