Life Skills Instructor Opportunity at AEDD

Job Summary: AEDD is seeking a dedicated Life Skills Instructor to join our team. As a Life Skills Instructor, you will provide direct care services to individuals with developmental disabilities, focusing on household maintenance, meal preparation assistance, and implementing program instructions under supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide housekeeping services and assist consumers with laundry, adhering to ICF/MR regulations
  • Manage consumer behaviors professionally and employ effective intervention techniques
  • Ensure kitchen sanitation and adherence to special diets during meal preparations
  • Assist consumers with hygiene, grooming, and other personal care needs
  • Participate in consumer training, supervision, and planned leisure activities
  • Complete required documentation and report significant events to the supervisor
  • Ensure consumers' well-being, address behavior concerns, and report any incidents
  • Transport consumers as necessary and support the shift supervisor with additional tasks

Requirements:

  • A High School diploma or GED is required, along with at least six months of prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
  • CPR/First Aid certification, TB Skin Test results, and an Arkansas Driver's License are necessary
  • This role involves operating a motor vehicle, and any lapse in attention could jeopardize the safety of the consumers

Work Environment: The work environment may vary, but reasonable accommodations will be provided as needed. As an employee, you may encounter changing weather conditions and moderate noise levels during work hours.
