We are seeking a skilled School Nurse to join our team at Liestman Elementary School. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing healthcare services to students, promoting health and wellness, and collaborating with teachers and staff to support student success.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans for students with disabilities and health conditions that impact learning.
- Administer medication to students, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with district policies and procedures.
- Conduct health assessments, screenings, and acuity assessments to identify student health concerns and develop recommendations for ARD/IEPs.
- Provide first aid, CPR, and AED as needed, and participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices and laws related to school health services.
- Collaborate with special education teachers to implement IEPs and provide student-specific training to designated personnel.
- Assist in the formation of health policies, procedures, and goals for the school district.
- Associate's degree from an accredited professional nursing education program or Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Valid registered nurse license from the State of Texas Board of Nursing and current certification in CPR/AED.
- Minimum of two years of nursing experience in community health, ambulatory care, school health, or related fields.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and staff.
The School Nurse will work in a fast-paced school environment, interacting with students, teachers, and staff. The position requires frequent standing, sitting, and walking, as well as the ability to lift moderate weights and push/pull equipment. The School Nurse will also be exposed to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases.
Salary and BenefitsThe salary for this position is $62,995/BA, $63,495/MA, $63,995/PHD, based on previous experience. The position is a 190-day contract, with benefits and a salary schedule pending school board approval.
