  • Continuously observe inspection, assembly, and testing operations.
  • Conduct mill surveillance for the manufacturing of drill pipes and casings.
  • Perform quality audits, including reviews of the Quality Management System (QMS) and technical process audits of rental and specialty tool providers, inspection facilities, machine shops, and rig sites to assess adherence to relevant international, industry, internal, and customer-specific standards.
  • Maintain daily communication with project managers regarding job progress and any issues encountered.
  • Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to provide effective solutions for clients.
  • Offer mentorship and training to new hires on the job.
  • Ensure that all assignments are documented with detailed daily reports and associated field documents that outline findings, actions taken, and relevant technical details.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience, Skills, and Education Requirements:

  • Proven technical knowledge of the Standard DS-1, relevant API specifications, and other applicable industry standards.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and enforce inspection, assembly, or testing procedures related to the job.
  • Effectively read and utilize technical drawings and schematics to meet client requirements.
  • Demonstrated skill in measuring dimensions with calipers, micrometers, and scales, with precision to within 1/64th of an inch.
  • Competence in performing basic mathematical computations and conversions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on grammatical accuracy.
  • Ability to generate detailed technical reports using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel), including scanning and uploading supporting documents and incorporating images into reports.
  • Proficient in professional communication via email and phone with colleagues, vendors, and clients as necessary.
  • Intermediate familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), including typing skills and electronic file organization.
  • Demonstrated social and emotional intelligence, with the ability to manage and resolve conflicts with personnel at all levels.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in NDT with Level II certifications in MP, LP, UT, and VT.
  • At least three years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Experience in the assembly, repair, or qualification of drilling and completions tools.
  • Familiarity with DS-1 Volumes 3 and 4; API 5DP, 5CT, and other API specifications related to drilling and completions equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Capability to sit, walk, climb stairs, or stand for up to 14 hours with limited breaks.
  • Able to hear audible alarms, safety instructions from coordinators or operators, and phone calls from project managers and other personnel.
  • Ability to see visual defects as small as 1/64" in inspected tools.
  • Capacity to carry a tool bag, computer bag, and personal items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to travel by automobile or airplane as required.

TERMS:

This position is on-call and hourly, often requiring non-standard and irregular working hours, with a maximum of 16 hours per day. Technicians will have either the 1st or 3rd or 2nd and 4th weekends off each month. For months with a 5th weekend, all technicians are on-call. Reliable transportation is necessary, with the ability to travel up to 250 miles from the home base. Multi-day, overnight travel may be necessary. Technicians must provide their own laptop and MS Office software (Word, Excel, and Outlook) along with a smartphone from a major cellular provider.
