Position Summary
The Radiation Therapist is responsible for administering and executing radiation therapies with a high level of expertise in the functionality of each therapy unit. This role requires proficiency in preparing, conducting, and completing procedures within the radiation therapy environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough order reviews and establish treatment parameters.
- Ensure compliance with radiation safety regulations and maintain sensitivity to patient needs.
- Deliver exceptional patient care while explaining treatment procedures and maintaining communication throughout the process.
- Schedule patients effectively to optimize machine usage.
- Operate linear accelerators by adjusting controls and monitoring patient treatment as per the prescribed plan.
Qualifications
Required:
- Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) license in Therapeutic Radiologic Technology.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred:
- ARRT certification.
- Completion of an AMA-approved program in Radiation Therapy Technology.
- A minimum of two years of experience as a Radiation Therapy Technologist.
Essential Skills
- Maintain visual and audible communication with patients during treatment.
- Perform quality assurance activities on treatment machines and simulators.
- Accurately document patient charges and maintain cleanliness of treatment areas.
- Uphold patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and attend relevant meetings.
- Fabricate immobilization devices and assist in brachytherapy procedures as needed.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care tailored to the diverse needs of patients.
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $65.67.
