About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Specialist to join our team at City National Bank. As a Data Governance Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of our data governance program across business areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Quality and Monitoring: Monitor data quality and execute monitoring and oversight activities to ensure that data is sourced from reliable and trustworthy sources.
  • Data Governance Strategy: Assist in the development and execution of the Data Governance Strategy.
  • Data Controls and Dashboards: Coordinate with operational and reporting data stewards to create data controls, identify measurement definitions, and manage using dashboards.
  • Enterprise Data Policy: Implement enterprise data policy for governing data and actively measure compliance to the data policy for critical data and reports.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Implement ongoing communication with data stewards to ensure critical data issues are communicated timely for remediation.
  • Data Definitions and Quality: Collaborate with the Data stewards, data custodians and report developers to ensure consistent use of data definitions, authorized data sources, and calculations.
  • Problem Resolution: Collaborate with the Data Stewards, Architecture, and Information Technology to prioritize and resolve: data sourcing, business rules, data aggregation, data distribution, and data consumption.
  • Data Governance Adoption: Establish and maintain programs to monitor and measure data governance adoption and achievements.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Responsible for maintaining an accurate enterprise critical report library with associated reporting metadata.
  • Issue Tracking and Resolution: Document and maintain data governance activities, maintains logs, and records issues and corresponding resolutions.
  • Training and Education: Document various governance roles and responsibilities then educate data stewards, data owners and data custodians.
  • Liaison and Communication: Serve as a liaison between Business and Functional areas and technology to ensure that data-related business requirements are clearly defined, communicated and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning.
  • Reporting and Dashboards: Produce data governance dashboards on a recurring basis.
  • Issue Management: Enroll data owners, data stewards and data custodians around active management of critical data and key issues.
  • Documentation and Remediation: Manage documentation as well as remediation of key data issues.
  • Process Execution: Execute a reliable second-line-of defense process via documented processes, controls, templates, and rigors.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience with providing data governance function and operations.
  • Project Management: Minimum 5 years of project management experience.
  • Consultancy and Facilitation: Minimum 5 years of consultancy and facilitation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree preferably in Information Systems or Business Administration. Master's Degree in a related field is strongly desired.
  • Experience: Prefer 5 years of banking experience, preferably in regulatory reporting, audit, or credit.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of information access and delivery methods, analytics applications and tool portfolio, data sourcing and integration methods. Understanding of data warehouse, ETL, data cleansing, and architecture.
  • CCAR Reporting and Credit Risk Analytics: Experience with CCAR reporting and/or credit risk analytics preferred.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Experience working and effectively collaborating with reporting, operations and technology teams.
  • Operational and Support Environment: Familiarity with operational and support environment issues.
  • Problem Resolution and Critical Thinking: Must be driven, operationally savvy, action-oriented who continually strives for improvement.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Strong critical thinking ability and problem resolution skills.
  • Project Management and Independence: Ability to work independently with light to moderate supervision in various areas of responsibility.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal/written communication skills and strong project management skills.
  • Consulting and Education: Experience consulting with senior management.
  • Data Governance and Operational Skills: Thorough knowledge and operational skills in the Data Governance.
  • Computer Skills: Thorough knowledge of personal computers and various software packages, including Excel and Word.
Compensation

Starting base salary: $101,231 - $172,355 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
