Job Title: Surgical First Assistant Cardiac

Northwest Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Surgical First Assistant Cardiac to join our team in the CVOR. As a Surgical First Assistant Cardiac, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our surgical team in the operating room.

Job Summary:

The Surgical First Assistant Cardiac will assist the surgeon during operative procedures, anticipating their needs and providing support as needed. This role requires strong communication and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the surgeon during operative procedures, anticipating their needs and providing support as needed.
  • Provide scrub and/or circulating nurse services within scope of practice in the operating room during surgical procedures.
  • Assist the surgical team in preparing rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment.
  • Assist with opening of sterile supplies and moving, positioning, prepping, and draping patients for surgical procedures.
Requirements:
  • Successful completion of an Accredited Surgical First Assistant (RNFA, CFA, or CSA) program.
  • Two (2) years of OR experience as a Surgical Tech, First Assistant, or RN.
  • CSFA, CSA, or RNFA certification and American Heart Association (AHA) BLS.
  • Preferred: One (1) year of First Assistant experience and ACLS certification.
