Position Overview:

The Vocational Nursing Specialist plays a crucial role in the daily management of outpatient services, ensuring accountability to clinic leadership. This position emphasizes patient safety, quality enhancement, patient satisfaction, scheduling efficiency, and effective supply oversight.

Supervision: The role is directly overseen by the Chief of Clinical Services.

Physical Requirements: This position necessitates standing, walking, stooping, bending, and kneeling. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds is essential, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of items weighing up to 25 pounds. Proficiency in using office machinery, such as copiers and computers, along with medical devices like accuchecks and EKGs, is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administers medications, immunizations, and treatments while monitoring patients for any unusual symptoms or reactions.
  • Conducts comprehensive physical assessments to determine individual health needs and implements necessary actions.
  • Implements and oversees case management service plans effectively.
  • Educates and assists patients in addressing their healthcare requirements.
  • Maintains, prepares, and reviews patient records and assessments, participating in quality assurance evaluations as needed.
  • Adheres to all relevant State, Federal, and Local regulations, along with Facility Policies and Standards.
  • Collaborates with fellow nursing staff to provide optimal patient care.
  • Engages in activities aimed at improving organizational performance.
  • Continually updates knowledge in nursing practices and takes responsibility for personal and professional development.
  • Contributes to the efficient management of the department/clinic.
  • Incorporates clinical practice standards and protocols to enhance clinical effectiveness.
  • Demonstrates respect for the values of self and others.
  • Aligns personal values with the mission of the Center.
  • Involves patients and their families in care planning, considering their cultural, spiritual, and personal beliefs.
  • Identifies recurring clinical issues and collaborates with the Chief of Clinical Services to develop specific plans for discussion in leadership meetings.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited LVN program.
  • Possession of an active LVN license from the Texas State Board of Registered Nurse Examiners.
  • A minimum of two years of nursing experience is preferred.
  • Current BLS Certification is required.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel between various clinic locations as needed.
