Key Responsibilities of the Repair Supervisor:

This role is pivotal in overseeing the production processes within our repair facility, ensuring that safety, quality, production, and environmental objectives are consistently met. The Repair Supervisor will lead a skilled workforce and engage with various stakeholders, including management, safety teams, and clients.

Core Duties Include:

  • Modeling and promoting the core values of CF Rail Services to foster a positive and communicative work environment.
  • Leading safety initiatives and ensuring compliance with all railcar safety protocols.
  • Supervising a team of 1 to 50 employees in the mechanical servicing of railcar rolling stock, adhering to industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Managing workforce performance to meet or exceed operational goals, including efficiency and labor metrics.
  • Planning and organizing production schedules to optimize resource availability and operational flow.
  • Conducting quality inspections throughout the repair process.
  • Maintaining clear communication regarding work area status to ensure smooth production operations.
  • Utilizing technical expertise to ensure high-quality repairs.
  • Training and motivating team members to maintain an effective workforce.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate completion of all necessary documentation.
  • Implementing corrective actions as needed to uphold safety and quality standards.
  • Assisting in personnel matters, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Collaborating with the Operations Manager and other personnel to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Ensuring adequate inventory of materials and supplies for operational efficiency.
  • Coordinating with various functional groups, including customers and suppliers.
  • Maintaining a valid driver's license and adhering to safety protocols.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the rail repair industry.
  • Advanced understanding of AAR Interchange Rules.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and workforce management software.
  • Basic financial and accounting knowledge.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Process-oriented mindset.

Physical and Work Environment:

This position requires physical stamina, including standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Work will be conducted in various environments, both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to heavy machinery and varying weather conditions. Flexibility in work hours may be necessary to meet operational demands.
