The Town of Nags Head is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting the community, and upholding the law. Key Responsibilities- Patrol assigned areas to prevent and detect crime, and to enforce traffic laws and regulations.
- Respond to emergency calls, such as accidents, crimes, and disturbances, and provide assistance as needed.
- Investigate crimes, gather evidence, and interview witnesses to solve cases.
- Enforce laws and regulations, issue citations, and make arrests as necessary.
- Participate in community policing initiatives to build relationships with the public and promote trust and cooperation.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to share information and resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher preferred.
- Valid North Carolina driver's license required.
- Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) certification required; lateral entry requirements for non-certified officers must be met.
- Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
Police Officers work in a variety of settings, including patrol cars, police stations, and community areas. They may be exposed to hazardous conditions, such as extreme temperatures, loud noises, and physical confrontations. Police Officers must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
