Fleet Mechanic Job Description

Position Overview:
Parking Lot Painting Company (PLP Co.) is seeking a skilled Fleet Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for performing diagnostics, repairs, and routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnostics and Repairs:
• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Repairs and maintains construction equipment of various types and sizes from light-duty to heavy-duty (class 8) trucks and from light-duty to heavy-duty operating equipment.

Emergency Assistance:
• Provide roadside assistance for vehicles that have broken down, including repairs and towing coordination if necessary.

Vehicle & System Maintenance:
• Perform preventative maintenance following OEM specifications as well as electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic diagrams.
• Remove and replace defective parts by dismantling devices using hand and power tools.

Tool and Equipment Maintenance:
• Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working condition and properly maintained.
• Test repaired equipment to ensure proper functioning when used.
• Occasionally fabricate, weld, and cut parts, using arc-welding/wire feed and flame cutting equipment.

Safety Compliance:
• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Perform DOT inspections.
• Perform related and other duties as requested.

Requirements:

Technical Expertise:
• Proven experience as a mechanic.

Diagnostic Skills:
• Strong ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of mechanical issues with vehicles and equipment.

Physical Stamina:
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy equipment and working in various weather conditions.

Problem-Solving:
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Welding and fabrication experience preferred, not required.
• Must have a valid driver's license, a CDL license is preferred.
• Must have a good driving record with no major violations within the last 5 years or be accepted by the company insurance policy provider to drive PLP company vehicles.
