Job Summary

The Regional Manager of Virtual Construction will oversee the operation of a virtual construction department, managing people and processes to ensure smooth and budget-friendly operations. This role will collaborate with corporate managers, implement operational objectives, and develop policies and procedures to support the region's overall operations plan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist corporate managers with administrative functions related to the Virtual Construction department, including procurement, job close-out, and assistance with projects in other regions.
  • Implement operational objectives and goals for the regional team of detailing staff, in collaboration with the President of Construction and VC Director, and ensure alignment with corporate policies and guidelines.
  • Work with other Regional Managers to share detailers across the USE system and manage partnerships with Regional Managers and VC personnel leading project teams.
  • Provide support to regional detailers on technical and non-technical issues to maximize individual effort and team results.
  • Make project assignments for each member of the regional coordination/detailing team and monitor overall quantity and quality of detailing operations for the assigned region.
  • Establish and monitor department budget, ensuring maximum efficiency through optimum use of equipment, facilities, and resources.
  • Stay current on industry software and hardware developments and propose and implement new technologies or industry best practices as necessary.
  • Have full management responsibility for members of the regional detailing team, including determining staffing levels, recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and more.
  • Interact regularly with Procurement and Operations teams to provide an integrated detailing solution, including bids, models, interview assistance, and more.
  • Partner with peers and the VC Director to ensure a 'one-company one team' focus and knowledge sharing.
  • Write, edit, or transcribe general correspondence and/or department documents, including letters, inquiry packages, change orders, purchase orders, contract agreements, and more.
  • Monitor and document department status and other department information for current, bidding, and tracking mechanisms.
  • Maintain an organized filing system for all department documentation.
  • Interface with internal and external individuals, including department team members, owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, to ensure smooth administration of each project.
  • Participate in or coordinate special assignments related to department administration to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Assist USE Managers in developing and nurturing client relationships.
  • Help coordinate office training and meetings.
Requirements
  • Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Drafting Technology highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant mechanical construction industry experience required.
  • Minimum of 1 year construction operations supervisory experience, supervising detailing function.
  • Mechanical field experience (pipe fitter, plumber, sheet metal worker) is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Thorough understanding of HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems.
  • Knowledge of mechanical construction operations, principles, and processes, including project life-cycle.
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of computer-aided drafting software: AutoCAD and/or Revit; NavisWorks; AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP, Autodesk Fabrication, and related line of products.
  • Basic level proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet search engines.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team to achieve results, despite multiple and changing priorities.
  • Proven collaborator - able to facilitate cooperation among teams and individuals.
  • Excellent communication skills - including ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from engineers, groups, managers, clients, etc.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of most current industry technology, and ability to lead team to adapt to changing technology/computer systems, software, etc.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret structural and architectural drawings, and other construction documents.
Physical and/or Travel Demands

The Regional Manager of VC duties require prolonged sitting and use of computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Visual acuity is required to discern drawings, and manual dexterity for operating computer equipment. Travel to remote jobsites for meetings, trouble-shooting, and/or constructability review is required.

Benefits and Compensation
  • The range for this position has been established at $111,900 to $159,000 per year and is U.S. Engineering's good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of the posting. The compensation offered to the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
  • Your total compensation will go beyond the number on your paycheck. Team members are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance as well as paid time off. An industry-leading benefits package including health, dental, and vision plans, and retirement.
