General Purpose:

To deliver prompt, efficient, and friendly service to customers. Responsibilities include wrapping, trimming, stocking displays, and receiving products in the Meat and/or Seafood Department.

Reports to: District Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Operations, Perishables, Health Wellness Home; Service Managers; Meat Department Manager; Assistant Meat Department Manager; Seafood Department Manager; Assistant Seafood Department Manager.


Direct Reports:

Under specific circumstances, part-time stockers may receive guidance from this position.


Primary Responsibilities:
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by demonstrating care, concern, and patience in all interactions, treating customers as the most valued individuals in the store.
  • Greet customers warmly and maintain a friendly demeanor, regardless of the location within the store.
  • Make an effort to learn and use customers' names whenever possible.
  • Assist customers by:
    • Guiding them to the products they seek
    • Retrieving items that are out of reach
    • Helping with heavy items
    • Recording and communicating customer suggestions or requests
    • Performing various tasks to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Answer phone calls promptly, providing friendly and helpful service, including taking customer orders.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure customer satisfaction and a positive work atmosphere.
  • Wrap, weigh, and label products accurately.
  • Monitor the quality and presentation of food items for freshness, restocking cases or rotating products as necessary.
  • Prepare and present seafood items attractively for display.
  • Follow proper sanitation protocols to maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Restock and arrange coolers effectively.
  • Notify appropriate personnel of any out-of-stock items.
  • Prepare, slice, tenderize, and grind products as needed.
  • Dispose of waste in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to personal hygiene and dress standards as per department and company policies.
  • Report to work as scheduled and punctually.

Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Assist in preparing signage for the department.
  • Order replenishment stock as directed by management.
  • Support other areas of the store as required.
  • Carry out additional job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:
  • Ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions and manage a few concrete variables.
  • Basic math skills, including addition and subtraction; ability to count and record accurately.
  • Capability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies verbally or in writing.

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent experience; food safety training preferred. Six months or less of relevant experience.


Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to exert up to 85 pounds of force occasionally; up to 40 pounds frequently; and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
  • Visual requirements include the ability to see at various distances, depth perception, color recognition, and a broad field of vision.
  • Must be capable of performing physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Environment:

This role is consistently exposed to a cool and damp environment, with frequent noise from equipment, exposure to cleaning agents, and potential electrical hazards. The work pace is fast.


Equipment Utilized:

Knives, grinders, patty makers, tenderizers, slicers, pallet jacks, tumblers, wrapping systems, and rotisseries.


Contacts:

Engages with customers daily and interacts with vendors/suppliers as needed.
