The Cardiac Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist is a critical member of the medical imaging team at Cook County Health and Hospitals. This role is responsible for performing high-quality CT scans, primarily focusing on cardiac CT angiography studies, to assess coronary, cardiac, and valvular anatomy.
Key Responsibilities- Perform CT scans according to established protocols and techniques to produce high-quality images.
- Collaborate with the CT team, including physicians, managers, nurses, and technologists, to ensure seamless patient care.
- Work independently to analyze patient medical records, interview patients, and position them for examination to minimize discomfort.
- Conduct daily quality control testing on CT systems, maintain equipment, and report any issues to Clinical Engineering and supervisors.
- Administer contrast media for CT enhancement, adhere to infection control techniques, and follow radiology safety guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with patients, staff, and physicians to ensure timely and efficient patient care.
- Participate in laboratory quality improvement processes to maintain accreditation and adhere to regulatory standards.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or Computed Tomography.
- Completed formalized CT course, as part of or in addition to formal education.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Computer Tomography (ARRT(CT)).
- Minimum of one (1) year of full-time work experience in performing Computerized Tomography (CT).
- Accredited by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA).
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Three (3) years of experience in performing Computerized Tomography (CT).
- One (1) year of experience in performing Cardiac Computerized Tomography (CT), including Cardiac Computed Angiography of the heart and the coronary arteries.
