Position SummaryThe Pharmacy Technician Specialist embodies the core values of our organization, adhering to ethical standards and compliance protocols while ensuring the highest quality of service in pharmaceutical care.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee and manage all pharmaceutical procurement activities.
- Monitor inventory levels, assess previous purchasing trends, and forecast future needs.
- Ensure optimal drug stock levels are maintained.
- Coordinate the reception of deliveries, organize storage areas, and manage stock rotation.
- Establish and maintain emergency supply channels with local healthcare facilities and vendors.
- Facilitate the return and credit process for expired or surplus medications.
- Act promptly on drug recall notifications.
- Handle inter-departmental billing and conduct monthly inspections of pharmacy units.
- Prepare and distribute medications and supplies to various departments and nursing units.
- Resolve discrepancies with vendors regarding order fulfillment, shipping issues, and pricing errors.
- Maintain comprehensive purchasing documentation, including invoices and historical records.
- Generate and share purchasing reports within the department.
- Assist in scheduling pharmacy technicians and contribute to their training and development.
- Demonstrate proficiency in all pharmacy technician responsibilities, including sterile compounding of intravenous medications.
- Participate in weekly audits of controlled substances to ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Collaborate with pharmacy leadership to identify and implement workflow and inventory management improvements.
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Pharmacy Technician License.
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through recognized accrediting bodies.
- A minimum of two years of specialized training or experience.
