Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Technician to join our team at Insight Global. As a Data Center Technician, you will be responsible for supporting the installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of IT equipment and infrastructure in our data centers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Remove network cables as part of datacenter decommission
  • Run, label, and stage power and networking cables
  • Perform DBD removal only (does not perform any scanning)
  • Follow procedures for preparing, installing, performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, replacing, and/or decommissioning equipment with guidance from Datacenter Technician Leads
  • Prepare, stage, set up, and perform basic startups and shutdowns for hardware following written instructions, checklists, guides, standard procedures, and with guidance from Datacenter Technician Leads
  • Perform physical audits of datacenter assets
  • Prepare, stage, set up, and perform startups and shutdowns (e.g. racks hard drives, switches) according to specific instructions, checklists, guides, standard protocols, and e-mails
  • Perform post-execution quality checks and verify that grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling are set up properly according to safety protocols, deployment standards, and planned Network Design Tasks (NDTs)
  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting following standard procedures, quickly identify the cause(s) of issues, and replace faulty components
  • Decommission hardware for simple changes and refreshes (e.g. memory upgrades, OS rebuilds) following standard procedures with minimal guidance
  • Follow procedures to communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate Datacenter Technician Leads
Requirements
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components
  • 6 months of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent Previous Microsoft experience
  • Previous datacenter experience
